Bought this for a gift for my adult son and might have to get one for myself. The globe is a decent size and yes it spins by itself. I really like that the globe lights up as well as the base. The first few times you set it up can be a bit frustrating but once you get the feel of it, it's quite easy.

When I saw this by chance online I just had to have it. Now that I have it I'm not disappointed. The good - if you like things like this the cool factor is high. Even though I understand the science behind how it works, it's still cool to watch it hover and to pass sheet of paper or your finger underneath it. The other good thing about this is that it can be lit up or can be dark. Very cool!
